TERMS & CONDITIONS (T&C’S)

These T&C’s apply to all reservations created within the Da’at Educational Expeditions, ltd. Brand as well as Da’at’s subsidiary brands, namely: ARZA World, Landmark Cultural Expeditions, and Jewish Family Tours.

 

HOW TO MAKE A RESERVATION

  • Use the Tripfinder to search by destination or by your trip name or number to locate your trip web page.
  • Your trip’s web page will include the program outline, best moments, rates & lodging, and more.
  • Go to the Rates & Lodging section and click on “Reserve now!”
  • A non-refundable deposit is required in order to complete the registration process.

PAYMENT

Da’at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits. Notification of any changes will be made explicitly to the participants where relevant.

 

DEPOSIT REQUIRED

  • Upon accepting our trip proposal, the tour organizer is required to make a good faith, non-refundable deposit of $500
  • In addition, a $500 per person, non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is due at the time of reservation unless another amount is indicated for the particular trip.
  • We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express for payments made in USD only.
  • All payments are processed internationally and will appear on your statement as “Travel Services”. Participants should check with their credit card provider regarding international processing fees.

FINAL PAYMENT

  • Final payment is due 90 days before the scheduled trip begins, or as specified in your invoice.
  • Da’at Travel services reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Da’at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits. Notification of any changes will be made explicitly to the participants where relevant.

CANCELATION POLICY

All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.

 

Cancelation fees:

  • Cancelations made90 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit.
  • Cancelations made 89 to 46 daysprior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost.
  • Cancelations made 45 days or lessprior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.

Cancelation fees may also include:

  • Hotel or supplier cancelation fees.
  • The cost of the PEACE OF MIND TRAVEL PROTECTION PROGRAM (POM), if this was purchased.
  • Group airfare penalty fee.

Da’at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits. Please refer to the small print tab on your trip’s webpage or in your proposal for your cancelation policy and fees.

PACKAGE RATES

Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy. In the case of human or computer error, Da’at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to re-invoice for the correct price or service. A full refund will be made to passengers who choose not to pay an increase, provided Da’at Educational Expeditions receives a written cancelation within five days of the price increase notification.

VALIDITY

All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. If the U.S. dollar devalues by 3% from the local currency or more, Da’at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to increase prices accordingly.

NOT INCLUDED

Items of personal nature such as laundry, wines, mineral water, beverages, coffee, tea, food other than the table d’hote menu, passport and visa fees, insurance, and foreign port taxes.

SUGGESTED TIPPING

Please note that tipping to guides and drivers are not included in our package rates.

We recommend the following guidelines for tips:

  • Tour educator driving a private car for up to 3 passengers: $70 per touring day in total
  • Tour educator driving a private car for 4-5 passengers: $90 per touring day in total
  • Group of 5-9 passengers in a mini-van with a separate driver: $100 per day for the tour educator & $50 per day for the driver
  • Group of 10–19 passengers: $10 per participant per day for the tour educator & $5 per participant per day for the driver
  • Group of 20 passengers and more: $8 per participant per day for the tour educator & $4 per participant per day for the driver
  • Hostess tips: $4 per participant per day or a minimum of $100 per touring day in total
  • Security guard and/or a youth counselor: $1 per participant per day for a security guard, or youth counselor

CREDIT CARDS

  • We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express for payments made in USD only.
  • Credit card charges will only be processed upon submission of a completed Da’at Educational Expeditions Credit Card Form. Third-party credit cards are not acceptable.
  • Please note that all payments are processed internationally. Some credit card companies charge an international processing fee. Please check with your credit card provider to see what international fees you might incur.
  • All payments are processed internationally and will appear on your statement as “Travel Services”. Participants should check with their credit card provider regarding international processing fees.

CURRENCY FLUCTUATIONS

All our program rates are based on tariffs effective on the date of printing. In case of currency fluctuation of more than 3% or amendments in local government taxes, we will adjust pricing accordingly in order to be able to operate the trip.

RETURNED CHECKS

A $50 fee will be charged for any returned checks.

PASSENGER INFORMATION

Passengers are responsible to ensure that Da’at Educational Expeditions has the correctly spelled name (including any middle names, initials or hyphens), address, email and passport details for all passengers. Names printed on the invoice must be written exactly as they appear in their passport. Da’at Educational Expeditions will not be responsible for passengers who receive incorrect documents due to inaccurate information.
If your air fare was booked through us, please note that any name change including minor spelling corrections may require airline reservations to be canceled and rebooked. Please note that your rebooking reservations are subject to availability and to an airline rebooking fee. Da’at Educational Expeditions will not be held responsible for the denial of services by a carrier due to any name discrepancy. Reservations are non-transferable. Name changes must be advised in writing.

E-DOCUMENTS / TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

Will be emailed approximately 21 days prior to departure, provided that full payment (cleared check or approved credit card) is received at least 90 days prior to departure. Passengers are responsible to ensure that Da’at Educational Expeditions has the correct e-mail address. E-mail addresses printed on the invoice must exactly match. Da’at Educational Expeditions will not be responsible for passengers who do not receive an invoice or documents due to inaccurate information.

AMENDMENTS AFTER DEPARTURE

The cost of any changes or additions during the trip will be calculated at the local rate at the time of the amendment and must be borne by the passenger.

VAT INFORMATION FOR ISRAELI CITIZENS

All our prices exclude 17% VAT. Foreign nationals are NOT required to pay VAT. Israeli citizens are not exempt from paying VAT even if they have other citizenships. Hotels might require that you present them with proof of your nationality in order to show that you are not also an Israeli citizen. Please save the small permit slip that is issued to you at passport control upon entering Israel, it is all the proof that you will need in order to verify your nationality.

PASSPORTS & VISAS

Passengers are responsible for ensuring that they have the proper travel documents and MUST CHECK with the respective consulate(s) or a visa agency to determine whether any visas or passports are required.

A visa may be required for certain countries that you will be visiting on your trip and must be obtained in the U.S prior to travel. US and Canadian citizens travelling to Israel do not require a visa.

Passports should be valid for at least 6 months from your return date. The passport number and expiration date of all passengers on the reservation is required to verify your identity with the hotel upon check-in. Please provide this information before the trip begins to our Customer Service Department.

Names printed on the invoice should appear exactly as they appears in the passport (including any middle names, initials or hyphens). If air fare was booked through us, please note that any name change, including minor spelling corrections, may require airline reservations to be canceled and rebooked. PEACE OF MIND TRAVEL PROTECTION PROGRAM (POM)

Should you cancel your trip up to 72 hours before your departure for any reason, our POM program offers you a trip refund. 

  • POM can be purchased up to 90 days prior to your scheduled departure date
  • POM fee is $295 per person (non-refundable)
  • Applies for land services only (airline tickets not included)
  • Available exclusively for trips to Israel 
  • Applies to group trips only
  • Cancelation must be received in writing
  • The POM refund reflects the cost of the land services less the non-refundable deposit and your POM fee
  • POM is not a travel insurance!

TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly recommend that you purchase your own travel insurance. Please discuss land, air and health insurance options with your insurance provider or contact Travel Insured at 1-800-344-6226, ext. 257. Some insurance programs provide more comprehensive coverage when the policy is purchased in close proximity to the initial trip deposit. We therefore recommend that you secure insurance within 14 days of your initial deposit payment date. 

CUSTOMER SERVICE

All customer service issues and refund requests must be submitted in writing and received no later than 30 days after your return. Refunds are subject to a processing fee of $50 plus any hotel and/or supplier charges incurred. Claims for unused services should be substantiated in writing by local representatives. Processing of claims will take up to six weeks from the date Da’at Educational Expeditions receives relevant documents. There will be no refunds for unused package trip services or features, including missed transfers due to airline changes and/or missed flights, unused meals, missed sightseeing trips, unused entrance fees, and accommodations. No terms set forth in this brochure may be changed by anyone other than an authorized representative of Da’at Educational Expeditions and must be documented in writing. Da’at Educational Expeditions is not obliged to guarantee promises (written or verbal) made by local hotel staff, tour guides, or any other persons not under the direct employment of Da’at Educational Expeditions.

Airline flight cancelations and delays for any reason are not the responsibility of Da’at Educational Expeditions. Submit your claim directly to the airline. Da’at Educational Expeditions does not guarantee airline response.

AIRLINES

Once issued, tickets are non-refundable. Airline schedules and flights are subject to change without notice. Da’at Educational Expeditions is not responsible for penalties incurred for tickets, international or domestic, not issued by Da’at Educational Expeditions due to schedule and/or flight changes. Airlines reserve the right to demand immediate issuance of tickets whenever they determine that specific flights are heavily booked even when normal ticketing rules do not require tickets to be issued until a later date. In this instance, Da’at Educational Expeditions will require immediate and full payment of the airfare and airport taxes and fees as itemized on the invoice. This situation overrides invoice terms and conditions and payment due dates. If full payment is not received, seats will be canceled by the airline and may not be available to be rebooked on the same flights or at the same airfare. Any replacement air arrangements and airfare will be the sole responsibility of the passenger. Passengers are responsible to reconfirm their flights 72 hours prior to departure for all flights. The package is based on discount fares for group travel.
Note: Federal law forbids the carriage of certain hazardous materials, such as aerosols, fireworks, and flammable liquids, aboard the aircraft. If you do not understand these restrictions, contact your airline or go to http://www.faa.gov/about/initiatives/hazmat_safety/.

GROUP FLIGHTS

Group flights requires a minimum of ten passengers traveling together. The benefit to the passenger is that no additional advance payment is needed. The drawback of group flights is that the flight itinerary cannot be changed and upgrades and use of points are not permitted.
IMPORTANT: If your trip includes a group flight, please note that the seating assignment cannot be guaranteed and it is possible that you will not be seated next to your family or the traveler of your choice.

BAGGAGE

Confirm baggage limitations with your international carrier before packing. Remember that airlines can change their baggage restrictions at any time. Da’at Educational Expeditions shall not be held responsible for any damage to or loss of luggage/personal items. All damage/loss must be reported at the time of the incident and documented in writing by local authorities for submission to the company.

ROOM SHARE

On some of our programs, you may choose to share a room. If you know with whom you will be sharing a room, please inform us at time of registration. Please understand in the case where we do not have another person seeking to share, you will be responsible for the single supplement.

AIRPORT TAXES & FEES

All airline tickets are subject to a variety of foreign and domestic government taxes which include security charges, airport facility charges, customs and immigration fees, inspection fees, fuel surcharges and more. The total of these taxes may vary and will be approximately anywhere between $210 and $600 per passenger and are collected by Da’at Educational Expeditions. Taxes and fees are subject to change.

Airport taxes & fees which appear on the invoice reflect the taxes and fees that are applicable when the original reservation is completed. These taxes and fees may vary prior by air carrier. We reserve the right to amend the airport taxes & fees to reflect any changes prior to ticketing.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

  • The trip price includes hotel accommodations.
  • Our standard is to provide the best available hotels while considering value. Although the level of accommodations may differ slightly from hotel to hotel, we are committed to your comfort.
  • We reserve the right to make substitutions with hotels of equal standard. No refunds will be issued for differences between hotel prices.
  • The standard hotel room in Israel is generally smaller than in the US, comfortably accommodating two people in either one queen-size bed or two single beds. Some hotels offer triple rooms consisting of standard twin beds plus a sofa/folding bed or cot for the third person.
  • Special requests such as room selections, bed types, and smoking preferences are subject to availability and are strictly at the discretion of the hotel’s management on a run-of-house basis.
  • All hotel rates are non-negotiable and are based on the agreements made between Da’at Educational Expeditions and its suppliers.
  • Hotel check-in time is generally not before 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is prior to noon. If you are taking a late-night flight, make sure to organize adequate arrangements for accommodation until you are ready to leave for the airport. If a day room is included in the itinerary, check-out time will usually be at 6:00 p.m.

CHILDREN

Minimum age for children on escorted trips is 6. Discounts for children sharing a room as third apply to children under 12.

MEALS

All meals are as specified in each itinerary. Meals are based on the hotel’s or restaurant’s buffet or set menu. In general, beverages are not included, unless specifically stated.

TRANSFERS

If your package includes arrival and departure transfers, this will be detailed in your travel documents which will be e-mailed to you up to one week prior to your trip. If you deviate from the arrival and/or departure dates and time as specified in your travel documents, you will need to arrange your own transfers. Alternatively, you may request a transfer service up to 3 working days prior to your arrival and the cost of paid transfer service will be added to your invoice. When requesting a transfer service, please provide us with your flight information. Your arrival transfer is guaranteed for up to one hour from your scheduled arrival time in order to compensate for minor delays. Da’at Educational Expeditions or the transfer company will not be responsible for delays, for any reason, beyond one hour from your originally scheduled arrival time. In case of a delay, it will be your responsibility to contact Da’at Educational Expeditions directly and/or to make other transfer arrangements such as a taxi. Transfer costs are not refundable and any additional expenses will be your responsibility.

TRANSPORTATION & PROGRAM

Transportation throughout the trip will be as specified in the proposal. The size of the vehicle will be dictated by the number of participants and will be determined by Da’at Educational Expeditions. Our trips have been designed to accommodate individuals as well as groups. Please refer to each trip package for a complete listing of trip services included. The number of participants may vary during the trip, as Da’at Educational Expeditions accommodates travelers arriving on different airlines and on different days of the week. Times listed in itineraries are approximate and meant only as guidelines. Itineraries listed online or in printed materials are approximate and meant only as guidelines. Da’at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to make any itinerary changes it deems as necessary. In such cases where programs are changed, a site removed will be substituted by an alternative visit, or we may choose to remove a site to allow for more time at other listed locations. In such an event Da’at Educational Expeditions will not offer a monetary refund or compensation of any kind to trip participants. It is your responsibility to arrive on time for all scheduled flights and package components. Arriving late may be considered a “no-show”, in which case you will not be eligible for a refund for the unused service(s). We cannot guarantee the number of passengers who will be on any given trip. You may find that you are traveling with a sizeable group or only with your own companions. Services, however, will remain constant no matter the number of trip participants.

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

On dates including, but not limited to religious holidays and national celebrations, some monuments and sites may be closed. On these occasions, touring itineraries may be amended to reflect these closures.

ITINERARY & HOTEL AMENDMENTS

Occasionally, during holidays and certain periods, due to unforeseen circumstances the local Tour Operator and/or Hotel(s) may have to make last-minute changes, sometimes after arrival, in the sequence of the tour and/or hotels. We, therefore, reserve the right to adjust the sequence and/or substitute any hotels with others of similar category. In such cases, there will be no cost adjustment.

NON-OPERATION OF ESCORTED TRIPS

Escorted trip packages are based upon a minimum number of participants. Cancelation of any trip for lack of participation will be advised at least 30 days prior to the Trip’s departure, and all money will be refunded. Da’at Educational Expeditions will not be held responsible for any costs relating to the issuance and/or cancelation of airline tickets or visa fees. Voluntary cancelations due to political instability, acts of terrorism, government intervention or US State Department warning will be subject to the above fees, provided the program is deemed (by Da’at Educational Expeditions able to continue. Should Da’at Educational Expeditions elect to cancel a departure for any of these reasons, every effort will be made to obtain refunds from suppliers, but, no guarantees can be provided on their behalf.

TRAVELERS WITH PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS

Da’at will make all reasonable accommodations to meet the needs of our trip participants with physical limitations. Participants requiring any form of assistance or special accommodation are required to notify Da’at in writing at the time of reservation and Da’at will use its good efforts to accommodate the trip participant’s needs. Due to space limitations, special advance arrangements may need to be made to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers aboard motor coaches and additional costs may be involved. Da’at will notify the participant of any additional costs in advance of the trip. 

To enjoy this active tour, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances, often over unpaved and uneven surfaces. Some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. The amount of walking you do, however, is at your discretion. We recommend that you pack sturdy, comfortable walking shoes that have already been broken-in to appreciate fully what your trip has to offer.

Active components such as hiking, bicycling and walking longer distances may be included, and hills and/or uneven terrain may be encountered on several days. Guests should be able to walk two-to-three miles and stand for long periods of time with no difficulty. Your journey is moderately paced, and may include some early morning hotel departures and extended motorcoach travel.

Da’at reserves the right to remove any person from a trip who has not provided the required notification and has not received written confirmation from Da’at. All related expenses, including those to return home, will be borne by the passenger.

PLEASE NOTE: We regret that in some cases the Da’at itinerary cannot accommodate wheelchairs or motorized scooters. Likewise, we regret that we’re unable to provide individual assistance to guests with walking difficulties or other personal needs. The responsibility of the Da’at Educator/Guide who accompanies your trip is to ensure that the larger group enjoys a relaxing and informative journey, and they cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing individual assistance to any one guest. Guests requiring such individualized assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied companion who can provide it.

GROUP HARMONY

To ensure the desired group synergy, Da’at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to accept, reject or expel any individual who is deemed disruptive or incompatible with the interests of the group. All expenses to do so will be borne by the passenger.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

Please check with your healthcare provider for up-to-date requirements.

RESPONSIBILITY

Da’at Educational Expeditions and its representatives abroad act only as independent contractors acting on behalf of neither the customer nor the suppliers and principals. Our role in your travel is to coordinate and facilitate the various travel services you have requested, all of which are provided by persons operating independently of us and under their own professional standards and according to their own rules and regulations. All exchange orders, coupons, and tickets are issued subject to the terms and conditions under which such means of transportation, accommodations, and other services are offered or provided. The issuance and acceptance of such documents shall be deemed to be consent to the further conditions. Da’at Educational Expeditions does not own nor operate the hotels, motor coaches, airlines, cruise lines, or any other service providers which compose their trips, and will not be held responsible for changes and/or cancelations for any reason by airlines or hotels. 

 

Since The Travel Agent and/or Tour Operator, Da’at Educational Expeditions has no control over the manner in which the independent service provider provides its services to the Trip Participant, we shall not be in any way liable for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, costs incurred or irregularity arising from or related to the actions of any providers of transportation, food or housing accommodation or other trip services on your trip and their proprietors, personnel, servant or any other person otherwise in connection therewith unless same is the result of our negligence and arises from an immediate and direct action taken by us. 

 

Da’at Educational Expeditions shall not be held responsible for potential risks and hazards associated with travel to destinations included in this brochure, where injury, delay, or unanticipated events may occur. Da’at Educational Expeditions shall not assume responsibility for standards of quality, hygiene, political stability, cuisine, sanitation facilities, cleanliness, telecommunications facilities, methods of conducting business, emergency medical evacuation, treatment, or medical services found in these destinations. Travel to these areas may entail risks including but not limited to the hazards of traveling in politically unstable areas, civil disturbances, criminal activity, war, and arbitrary changes mandated by government authorities or private concerns. It is the responsibility of the passenger(s) to check with the U.S. State Department, Consular Information for any current advisories and updates to the destinations on their itinerary. Da’at Educational Expeditions shall be held harmless from any and all liability in connection with the foregoing. 

 

Da’at Educational Expeditions cannot accept responsibility for loss or expense due to delay or changes in transportation schedule or other causes. Da’at Educational Expeditions shall not be held responsible for the potential loss of services due to inclement weather conditions. 

 

Each exchange voucher and ticket are to be regarded as one contracted by or on behalf of the particular company or person named on it. 

 

The Airlines concerned are not to be held responsible for any omission or events during the time passengers are not aboard their ship, plane, or conveyance. The passage contract in use by the Airline concerned, when issued, shall constitute the whole contract between the Airlines, and the Purchaser of these trips and/or the passengers. The Travel Agent and/or Tour Operator and Da’at Educational Expeditions do not assume responsibility for airlines, or hotels overbooking, cancelations, or delays. 

 

Da’at Educational Expeditions is not responsible for any delay, damages, costs, and injury sustained by a trip participant arising from, caused by, or related to, any circumstances of Force Majeure, including without limitation, fire, war, act of God, weather conditions, civil unrest, acts of criminality or terrorism, strike, governmental action, or any other circumstances beyond our control. When same arises, we will use our efforts or ask our service and accommodation providers to use their efforts to make the necessary accommodation with respect to same, as may be reasonable under the circumstances.

Da’at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to withdraw any trip or change any touring services or accommodations and to make such alterations as may be found desirable for the proper carrying out of the tours. In the event it becomes necessary or advisable in our or our supplier’s discretion to alter the arrangements or the itineraries for the trip participant’s comfort, welfare or safety, such alternations can be made without penalty to us or the service provider.

It is agreed between Da’at Educational Expeditions and the trip participant that all disputes and matters between us of whatever nature arising under, in connection with or incident to the trip participant’s travel should be submitted to binding arbitration in the City of New York by agreement. If agreement is not reached, the dispute shall be litigated, if necessary, in and before a court located within the City of New York, to the exclusion of the courts of any other city, state or country. The issuance and acceptance by the trip participant of tickets and/or any other documents in connection with a trip are considered acceptable by the trip participant of this condition.

No payment or compensation will be made for use of this material. If you do not want images of yourself or your tour party to be included in our marketing activities, you are required to notify us by the start of your trip.

LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

Our websites may contain hyperlinks to websites operated by parties other than Da’at Educational Expeditions. Such hyperlinks are provided for your reference only. Da’at Educational Expeditions does not control such Web sites and is not responsible for their contents.
